The Deutsches Archäologisches Institut (DAI) is an internationally active scientific research institution which, as a public law institution, is part of the Federal Foreign Office's portfolio. In order to publish the scientific results of its archaeological and cultural-historical investigations conducted worldwide in digital form in addition to a print product, we have extended the open-source Lens Viewer with various features such as maps, images, 3D models and metadata and adapted it to work on mobile devices.
To lower barriers hiring and integrating handicapped people for employers, the non-profit institute Rehadat - supported by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) - asked us to design and build an inclusive web application to generate inclusion agreements and browse extensive background information around this topic. Barrierefreifahrt - initiated by Herkules Liftwerk GmbH, an innovative manufacturer of wheelchair accessible lifts & lifting platforms - is a project for mobility impaired persons. Due to legal regulations lifts and elevators for wheelchair users are only allowed to be operated by users with completed instruction trainings. We have developed a combination of ProgressiveWebApp (PWA) and a native iOS and Android app, which we call PWA+, where users can complete these training courses. Assuming you have completed the training, the app can then unlock the lift via bluetooth connection.
